Holbeck in Bloom, improving our community

We were formed in 2007 as a blooming group from a local residents association. Concern had been expressed about the local environment and the need to take some control.  Our first activity was to place five raised flower beds on a grass verge situated on Old Elland Road in Holbeck .  Positive comments were received and this spurred the newly formed ‘Holbeck in Bloom’  group to target other areas within Holbeck for environmental improvement.  In the spring of 2011 we entered the prestigious Yorkshire in Bloom competition and were encouraged by receiving a Silver Award.
Another Silver award was awarded in 2012 and we are seeking to consolidate and improve on our position this year .

The taking part in the Yorkshire in Bloom competition is important to us but by far the biggest reward is in seeing areas of neglect within Holbeck uplifted and improved.
